LL.M in Technology Law

The Technology Law Masters programme enables students to identify and understand the complicated relationships between technological advances and the law. Providing students with the tools necessary to navigate the complex regulatory systems developing around new technologies (e.g. data protection, ICT contracts, intellectual property rights, cyber security), the Masters programme in Technology Law provides an innovative and competitive degree in a rapidly growing area of specialisation.

Programme objectives: to empower students with academic and practical skills to manage and understand the multifaceted relationship between the legal and technological development, to provide students with understanding on how to succeed in the digital marketplace by shaping and navigating the complex regulatory environment.

The one year Masters programme consists of 60 ECTS of theoretical study with an interaction between law and other disciplines emphasised within each course track, including 30 ECTS devoted to a thesis.

The Programme is primarily designed for - legal industry, ICT industry and policy makers.


Koulutusohjema aktivoi opiskelijan tunnistamaan ja ymmärtämään monimutkaista suhdetta lain ja teknologian kehityksen välillä. Opinnot antavat työkaluja uuden teknologian (esimerkiksi datasuojaus, ICT-sopimukset, teollisuusoikeus, kyberturvallisuus) ympärillä kehittyvien säännösten tulkintaan. Koulutusohjelma tarjoaa innovatiivisen ja kilpailukykyisen tutkinnon nopeasti kasvavalta erikoisalalta.

Tutkinnon tavoitteena on vahvistaa opiskelijan osaamista akateemisilla ja käytännöllisillä taidoilla, joita vaaditaan oikeudellisen ja teknologisen kehityksen välisen monitahoisen suhteen hallinnointiin ja ymmärtämiseen. Opiskelija myös oppii ymmärtämään, kuinka menestyä digitaalisessa markkinoinnissa muovaten ja suunnistaen monimutkaisessa säännösympäristössä.

Technology Law (LL.M) Masters programme is available to students who have completed a bachelor, masters or equivalent degree in law or a related field (on the condition that basic knowledge of law and corresponding work experience can be demonstrated). For those with a three-year bachelor degree, options are limited to the two-year masters programme. English language proficiency: IELTS 6+, TOEFL IBT 80+ or TOEFL paper based test 550+.
